Financial assistance for any teacher on a "RIF" list:
AS President of Summer Institutes, I care about teachers who are nervously waiting on Reduction in Force ("RIF") lists. I know the feeling, I was RIFFED for a year in 2009. Our staff wants to ensure every teacher is given a stress-free opportunity to earn salary advancement credits. In an effort to eliminate anxiety, uncertainty, and to encourage educators to continue to advance their careers through one of our conferences, SI has created two new payment options and one free "Life Coaching" session for teachers on “RIF” lists to consider:
Option I: Any teacher on a “RIF” list can sign up for any one of our courses and receive a full refund if he or she decides not to attend. This offer is valid for registrations received up through May 31, 2011. Please note that SI must receive a cancellation notice five days prior to the start of the corresponding course and a copy of your RIF letter.
Option II: Any teacher on a “RIF” list that is let go by his or her district but decides to go forth and complete an SI course will be provided special financial arrangements to pay the tuition. Participants will simply be required to pay a $100 nonrefundable deposit, and then will be given an entire year to pay the remaining balance interest free! This one-year payment plan will begin on the start date of the respective course. Once full payment is received, registration forms will be sent to the university and permission to release transcript(s) will be granted. Participants who are unable to pay their remaining balance in one year’s time will forfeit the $100 deposit and no course credits will be awarded.
