Barbi Riggs earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Education and a minor in music from Western Oregon University. She is in her seventh year of teaching at Hawthorne Elementary in Sweet Home, Oregon.
Barbi was honored as the Willamette Valley Teacher of the Year in 2008 and is very involved in her community as well. Along with her teaching, Barbi has years of background in the travel industry. She worked for Alaska Airlines before pursuing her education degree.
Barbi’s knowledge of both the travel and education world makes her an asset to Summer Institutes. The new addition of the Oregon Coast site will prove to be a unique vacation and educational experience. Barbi has been married to Monte for 22 years. They have three children; Josh, Jake and Emili.
