Peter Scott,
Keynote Speaker
Your Competitive Edge: Education Initiatives = Revitalized Teachers
John Fitzgerald Kennedy once said that "efforts and courage were not enough without purpose and direction. "
Education Initiatives = a revitalization of teachers passions and purposes regardless of experience, seniority, and expertise. This course is most appropriate for educators, administrators, guidance counselors, and mental health counselors. Educators who have been in the field for more than five years have been introduced to Inclusion, Differentiated Instruction, Response to Intervention, Evidence Based Practice, to name a few. Each initiative brings with it a shift in paradigm, beliefs, talents, and expectations. This often produces a sense of complacency that inhibits student’s complete learning experience?
Peter Scott brings to his clients over two decades of experience in the field of professional and personal development.
From the streets of Boston to the top of his field, Peter brings his powerful and inspiring life lessons to you. Passionate and articulate, Peter has educated and inspired audiences all over the world. He is committed to living a life defined by personal accountability and he strives for excellence each day. His services include a variety of consulting programs, dynamic personal and professional growth seminars and workshops.
Peter Scott motivates others to "step up" by overcoming their limitations and tapping into their personal and professional power. His highly interactive seminars and keynote presentations are content driven and are extremely motivational. Peter designs each program to meet the unique challenges of his clients and when appropriate, Peter often includes magic and additional interactive learning tools in order to maximize participants' long-term retention. More than telling people what to do or showing them how to do it, Peter actually involves participants in the learning process. The results speak for themselves. Improved performance, which increases bottom-line productivity, is what separates Peter's programs from the pack. Those who participate in this experiential workshop will be offered several opportunities to rediscover and when deemed important re-calibrate their levels of integrity, ethics, sense of purpose, values, depth of empathy, strengths…
Peter's workshops are very intense! They are highly experiential and completely solution driven.
“This is a rare opportunity for any individual, but especially an educator, to re-ignite a sense of purpose.” Brett Acebo – Mt. Mansfield High School

Title: PURE Teaching V (Powerfully Using Relationships Effectively)
This is the 5th installment of PURE Teaching. In the last few years we have covered everything from motivation to dealing with disruptive students. This year’s seminar will include the best P.S.R. Lessons (Personal & Social Responsibility) of all time. P.S.R. is a class that Mr. Chapin started 25 years ago and still teaches today to elementary as well as secondary students. These students as well as the students he works with at the Juvenile Justice Center benefit greatly from these rather simple yet profound lessons. Many of the students Mr. Chapin deals with have better grades, better attendance, can solve problems more effectively, and many of the JJC students get out of and stay out of trouble. The presentation will include the following:
What self-esteem and motivation really are. How to work on your self-esteem and motivation and more importantly, how to teach it to your students.
Classroom proven strategies for increasing academic performance and establishing mutual respect between you and your students.
Highly effective methods for improving students’ attitudes about school, life, and learning.
Practical methods to empower students to accept personal responsibility for what happens to them in school and in life.
Student friendly ideas that prevent power struggles, apathy, and classroom disruptions.
Where to find energy in teaching and how to plug the holes that drain it.
Goal setting and problem solving for both the teacher and the student.
We will cover these and many other topics as well as receiving a packet containing some of these lessons and other useful information.

Being engaged in the classroom is one of the keys to deep learning. Come spend some time to focus on how and why we use technology to enhance delivery and assessment of curriculum. The session will discuss the paradigm shift teachers and districts are making when choosing technology tools to assist in the delivery of content and will also explore how Mobi's and eInstruction Classroom Response Systems can be used to help with classroom management and delivery of curriculum. See examples of how using these tools can help teachers to actively engage all students in classrooms with ever increasing numbers, check student understanding throughout a lesson, provide on-going real-time feedback during lessons, differentiate instruction based on student understanding, and efficiently assess and record student knowledge. See examples of how teachers can use these tools to make learning visible and take learning to a deeper level using quality questioning strategies during instruction.
