Your Competitive Edge: Education Initiatives = Revitalized Teachers
John Fitzgerald Kennedy once said that "efforts and courage were not enough without purpose and direction. "
Education Initiatives = a revitalization of teachers passions and purposes regardless of experience, seniority, and expertise. This course is most appropriate for educators, administrators, guidance counselors, and mental health counselors. Educators who have been in the field for more than five years have been introduced to Inclusion, Differentiated Instruction, Response to Intervention, Evidence Based Practice, to name a few. Each initiative brings with it a shift in paradigm, beliefs, talents, and expectations. This often produces a sense of complacency that inhibits student’s complete learning experience?
Peter Scott brings to his clients over two decades of experience in the field of professional and personal development. From the streets of Boston to the top of his field, Peter brings his powerful and inspiring life lessons to you. Passionate and articulate, Peter has educated and inspired audiences all over the world. He is committed to living a life defined by personal accountability and he strives for excellence each day. His services include a variety of consulting programs, dynamic personal and professional growth seminars and workshops.
Peter Scott motivates others to "step up" by overcoming their limitations and tapping into their personal and professional power. His highly interactive seminars and keynote presentations are content driven and are extremely motivational. Peter designs each program to meet the unique challenges of his clients and when appropriate, Peter often includes magic and additional interactive learning tools in order to maximize participants' long-term retention. More than telling people what to do or showing them how to do it, Peter actually involves participants in the learning process. The results speak for themselves. Improved performance, which increases bottom-line productivity, is what separates Peter's programs from the pack. Those who participate in this experiential workshop will be offered several opportunities to rediscover and when deemed important re-calibrate their levels of integrity, ethics, sense of purpose, values, depth of empathy, strengths…
Peter's workshops are very intense! They are highly experiential and completely solution driven.
“This is a rare opportunity for any individual, but especially an educator, to re-ignite a sense of purpose.” Brett Acebo – Mt. Mansfield High School

Tying Together Curriculum and Technology
Being engaged in the classroom is one of the keys to deep learning. Come spend some time to focus on how and why we use technology to enhance delivery and assessment of curriculum. The session will discuss the paradigm shift teachers and districts are making when choosing technology tools to assist in the delivery of content and will also explore how Mobi's and eInstruction Classroom Response Systems can be used to help with classroom management and delivery of curriculum. See examples of how using these tools can help teachers to actively engage all students in classrooms with ever increasing numbers, check student understanding throughout a lesson, provide on-going real-time feedback during lessons, differentiate instruction based on student understanding, and efficiently assess and record student knowledge. See examples of how teachers can use these tools to make learning visible and take learning to a deeper level using quality questioning strategies during instruction.
Dottie Coven - Dottie has a Masters in Teaching and taught elementary school for 13 years. Dottie has worked as a consultant and technology trainer since 1992 and joined CIM Technology Solutions Group as they expanded into the Western Region in 2007.

Abolish "Cottage Industry" Discipline Plans or Hug 'em or Hang 'em...What To Do With Noncompliant Students?
Kelly Graham is a lifelong educator, active duty principal, and former high school athletic director. Additionally, Kelly is the Executive Director of The Center For Teacher Effectiveness and brings researched based, common sense strategies to "in the trench teachers". Thousands of educators across the United States have engaged and participated in Kelly's presentations, leaving with realistic tools that can implemented the next day. Kelly holds a Masters in Education from the University of La Verne and has received numerous teaching as well as administrator awards, but the true test of his leadership abilities is proven daily in the real world of a junior high school campus. Staff, students, and parents are drawn to his philosophy of always doing what is best for students. You will enjoy big belly laughs as well as reflective moments as Kelly's seminars leave you a more effective educator the minute you return to your school!
Abolish "Cottage Industry" Discipline Plans!
Learn how traditional discipline plans create more work for you, the teacher, as your students learn how to play the game and not how to take ownership of their own behavior. Have you ever really thought about the message you are sending when using the common "3 strikes" or "checks on the board" method of tracking poor student behavior? The message is clear; go ahead and misbehave three times, the first two are free! By letting this occur two times, teachers are strengthening the pattern of events they were trying to eliminate to begin with, as well as giving away their authority by sending the message they don't really mean what they say. Let us show you a much more powerful strategy.
Hug 'em or Hang 'em...What To Do With Noncompliant Students?
Be careful which approach you use in your classroom as there are drawbacks to both the authoritarian (heavy handed) and the permissive (wishy-washy) style of classroom management. In the authoritarian classroom the teacher response is typically to "hang," or punish, the student for noncompliant behavior. This type of environment can lead to resistant and rebellious behavior. On the other hand, in the permissive classroom the teacher believes that giving big, warm hugs will cure every child's ills. Ignoring misbehavior, however, can lead to chaos and disrespect in the classroom. There is a better alternative. We believe that caring can be orderly and the Time To Teach approach gives kids choices and then
