Keynote Speaker

Tying Together Curriculum and Technology

Being engaged in the classroom is one of the keys to deep learning. Come spend some time to focus on how and why we use technology to enhance delivery and assessment of curriculum. The session will discuss the paradigm shift teachers and districts are making when choosing technology tools to assist in the delivery of content and will also explore how Mobi's and eInstruction Classroom Response Systems can be used to help with classroom management and delivery of curriculum. See examples of how using these tools can help teachers to actively engage all students in classrooms with ever increasing numbers, check student understanding throughout a lesson, provide on-going real-time feedback during lessons, differentiate instruction based on student understanding, and efficiently assess and record student knowledge. See examples of how teachers can use these tools to make learning visible and take learning to a deeper level using quality questioning strategies during instruction.
Dottie Coven - Dottie has a Masters in Teaching and taught elementary school for 13 years. Dottie has worked as a consultant and technology trainer since 1992 and joined CIM Technology Solutions Group as they expanded into the Western Region in 2007.

Angels Camp,

Experiential Learning Trip

Angels is a small town that was for many years, more or less forgotten. Now it's pushing itself forward to the next century with all the speed that her old legs can muster. Old wooden buildings, some with false store fronts hide here and there presumably forgotten by time, the lettering on their sides fading in the sun.

Columbia,
Experiential Learning Trip

The Gold Rush to Columbia, California began on March 27, 1850 by a small party of prospectors. News of the discovery spread and they were soon joined by a flood of miners.
Unlike many settlements that have changed with the times, Columbia, California seems to be frozen in the 1800's. Today, Columbia State Historic Park is the best preserved of California gold rush towns.
As a popular destination for school living-history programs, special family gatherings, or a year-round getaway, Columbia State Historic Park offers a unique blend of museums, displays, town tours, live theater plays, shops, restaurants and attractions.

Foothill Horiszons,
Experiential Learning Trip

At Foothill Horizons, the natural world provides an exceptional setting for outdoor education. Our 143 acre campus is located within an oak woodland that includes six species of oaks, large pines, and stands of beautiful manzanita. A perennial creek adds a cool, riparian zone for study. In the spring, wild flowers abound. Gray foxes, squirrels, raccoons, and mule deer are abundant. Sixteen acorn pounding-stone sites on the school property offer evidence that the Me-wuk people once stood on the land where the students now study that culture.

All of our lessons address California State Science standards for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade.

Murphys,
Experiential Learning Trip
