Dennis Desmarais has been a fixture at other Michigan Summer Institutes for the past 10 years. His observations and experiences as a teacher and administrator for the past thirty plus years have made us acutely aware of the communicating aspects of teaching.  From Dennis we learn that teaching is more than classroom objectives and are reminded of the qualities of the best teachers he has observed.

Marilyn Lane has been a classroom teacher, a school principal and Associate Professor at the University of Santa Clara, where she was responsible for student teachers.
