Johnny Lake presents “Diversity: More Than Just a Word, Culture, Context and Communication”
Johnny Lake is a nationally certified and internationally recognized speaker and trainer in programs focused on leadership, diversity, community-building, cross-cultural interactions skills, promoting equity and ethics. The focus will be on identifying and building a Practical Framework of Skills, Strategies and Methods for teachers and schools respecting Diversity and Multiculturalism.It will include personal understanding and making practical application of concepts, ideas, and tools to support implementation.
Barb MacWilliam presents "DFZ: Discrimination Free Zone"
Barb has been the DFZ coordinator at Cal Young Middle School in Eugene, Oregon since 2003. She has also taught Science and Health at the middle school level for 12 years. The presentation will focus on discrimination free activities that encourage acceptance of all students. Learning how to develop awareness and embrace differences can provide a safer environment for students within the classroom and throughout the school.
Martin Fleming presents "Getting to Respect: Making your classroom a safe place for all"
Mr. Fleming is the director of "ForKidSake," a training and consultation company focused on helping educators and caregivers of young people. He has conducted workshops and seminars in 43 States and Canada and appeared in many guest spots in regional and national media, such as The Early Show with Bryant Gumbel, National Public Radio, and CNN. He is the author of 10 books and was recently voted "Best Presenter" at a large national conference and strives to give people practical, effective strategies for helping kids in a humorous and engaging manner.
